We inherit our relatives by birth; friends, we choose them. May be that’s the reason why a handful of friends count much more than a thousand relatives. That’s the reason why Aristotle had once remarked upon friendship, “A single soul which dwells in two bodies”. True friends are like diamonds, very precious, very rare. They are the ones in which you find your own reflection. They are the ones along with whom you can behave stupidly. An ear to listen, a voice to comfort, a bond to cherish, a shoulder to support, a relation that knows no boundaries, one that supersedes all dissimilarities. That’s what friendship is all about. No matter how different their choices, or simply how different their identities, true friends will always be friends forever.
Today as I look back upon this wonderful relationship, glimpses of many memorable moments fly by my eyes. Times we were flat, broke, depressed and our pals came to our rescue, bunked classes/office to watch stupid movies, accepted calls in the middle of the night, just to listen what their girlfriend/boyfriend confessed. Whatever be the hour, you can always count on them. Many a moments we have laughed together, sobbed together; compromised on so many occasions, sacrificed so many things. The movie “Dil Chahta Hai” was an exemplary of what friendship is all about.
I dedicate this to all my friends, without whom my life would have been a blank piece of paper..
